What is like likely to happen when you go to see a hypnotherapist?

There are lots of possible scenarios of what might happen when you go to see a hypnotherapist.

The hypnotherapist may work from an office, which may be modest or could be plush and expensive.
The hypnotherapist may work from some sort of alternative health clinic, where other treatments are also on offer, such as Massage, reflexology, chiropractic etc.
The hypnotherapist may (like myself) work from home.
Some hypnotherapists who work from home, may have a particular room which is kept specifically as the hypnotherapy room.
Other hypnotherapists may utilise a room which is at other times used for other purposes.
The hypnotherapist will usually work alone, but may have a receptionist or other staff.

How should a hypnotherapist dress?

well There seems to be lots of opinions about this.Some people expect a hypnotherapist to bea man in a dark cloak.

some people expect a hypnotherapist to wear a white coat, or an expensive suit, like a doctor in a hospital.

Some people think that it is important for a hypnotherapist to dress smartly, and have well polished shoes.

some people expect a hypnotherapist to dress casually.

In truth all of these things happen.

I even knew one quite well known hypnotherapist (some years ago now), who made it a prectice to see the first client of the day in his dressing gown.  I am not sure that a hypnotherapist these days would get away with that.

Regardless of how the hypnotherapist may dress, and what effect that may have on your confidence in the hypnotherapist, it is the way the hypnotherapist acts which is more important.

Different hypnotherapists will work in different ways, one hypnotherapist may ask you to fill in forms with lots of personal details, before anyhting else happens.  Other hypnotherapists may not require any personal information.

Some hypnotherapists, might take copious notes during the session, and refer to these notes in later sessions. Another hypnotherapist might not take any notes at all.
